Primary Bootcamp Extended til election day!
More time to log actions and engage in the most critical days
Early voting started on Saturday for the NYC June Primary, which would have marked the end of the Primary Bootcamp, except that there’s still more work left to do! And these critical days leading up to the election are a great opportunity to do one more thing than you would usually do.
If you haven’t gotten to 70 points yet, it’s not too late. I’m extending the Bootcamp deadline to Election Day, June 24.
Reminder: once you hit 70 points, you'll get a beautiful print by a local artist and an invitation to join the Bootcamp Awards Party on July 12.
Primary Bootcamp Extra Credit
I wrote on Friday asking for your extra credit ideas. And y’all came through! Here’s your ideas for creative ways to get Primary Bootcamp points leading up to the election:
From Peggy: Post a selfie with your voting sticker - I've read that 'I voted' posts can have an effect on voting behavior
From Ollie: Share your favourite clip from either of the debates (plus a little commentary on it!), or thoughts on the NYT's new panel of experts approach to endorsements, or your favourite answer from the 10 questions they posed to each candidate!
From Stacey: For extra credit, I've been thinking of posting to Instagram stories and texting all my group chats a reminder to vote and link to find their early polling place! And a PSA that your early voting place is generally different than your regular voting location. I'm finishing up my mini voting guide and gonna post that to socials and friends as well today 😅
Nate’s extra credit tips:
1. Local businesses are a great way to get information out to the community, especially to those who may be less engaged with the voting process. Asking a local bodega or deli to post a flyer about how to vote and how ranked choice voting works can get the information in front of people easily. NYC votes has a great flyer example: https://www.nyccfb.info/pdf/RCV/2025/2025%20RCV%20Fact%20Sheet_EN.pdf. (Even more extra credit if you design your own!)
2. This is more of an evergreen extra credit idea, but my experience working in constituent services for a city councilor in Queens has been that calling the district office is one of the best ways to get an issue in front of the staff. If there’s a problem you have on your block or if your counselor has done something you disagree (or agree) with, now is arguably the best time to reach out and call, especially if your city councilor is in a competitive primary. Just make sure to call when the office is open.
From Raphael: Here’s my ‘extra credit’ idea that I have done many times, and one which really makes a difference: standing 100 feet away from a polling site during ‘early voting’ and leafleting for a candidate (preferably Keith Powers because he’s in a very competitive primary for Manhattan Borough President).
