A little about me:

Born and raised in California, now living in New York City🌆

I love cities. Before living in NYC, I lived in San Francisco, Durham (NC), Washington DC, Boston, Palo Alto, Berkeley, Stockton, and Sacramento.

I’m into volunteering (2x Americorps alum), public policy (Duke MPP), and helping social sector agencies be more responsive to those they serve (my day job for the last 7+ years).

I serve on the board of Open New York and on Manhattan Community Board 5.

Opinions are my own and not the views of Manhattan Community Board 5.

What am I doing on Substack?

Writing about Community Boards. In 2023, when I told people I joined my Community Board, they were usually just confused about what NYC’s Community Boards do. So I’m writing with some tidbits and learnings from my experience on my Community Board.

Writing about city and state politics. City and state government play a critical role in our everyday lives, and yet national politics usually gets the most airtime. I get more news about what Trump is up to, even though my City Council member or State Assembly person definitely affects my day-to-day more. I figured I could use a better understanding of my local and state politics, so here’s my learnings.

Also, if you find mistakes in my research, let me know. I’d love to fix anything I get wrong.🙂
